Introducing Sherman Chiropractor Dr. Larry Marklin

"I was hit from the rear; it was only a minor fender-bender. Why am I having such bad headaches now?" That was my very first experience with a chiropractor in St. Louis. I was young, thought I knew it all, received some treatments from the chiropractor but didn’t really understand what was going on and how the treatments were helping me. I would have to wait at least another ten years to get the rest of the story!

Dr. Larry Marklin.I had gone through several careers as an engineer and sales rep. I met a chiropractor when I was in my 30’s and found out how much I could help people without drugs or surgery. That did it for me! I quit my job and became a student again to help people with their health care and have never regretted that decision.

I graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973, working for Texas Instruments in Dallas. After working for TI, I worked with Tektronix in Houston, helping engineers and designers with their electronic equipment needs. Afterwards I enjoyed a successful career with Ruska Instruments in Houston, working with electronics and precision pressure measuring equipment. It was then I “discovered” chiropractic care and enrolled at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas.

While in school, I met the best person in the world, my future wife, Norma. We married during our final year in school, 1986, and made Sherman, Texas our home. She is not only my wife, she is my partner in the clinic, the other half of the chiropractic team we offer to our patients.

Most of my post-graduate work has been with motor vehicle collision injuries and staying current as a workers’ comp doctor and doing impairment ratings for Texas and other doctors.  I strive to stay current on health topics and offer the best care I can to our patients.  My post-graduate education includes collision reconstruction for the medical practitioner, independent medical examinations, peer review, and being an independent insurance consultant.

When not treating patients, reading research articles or writing reports, I enjoy building, flying, crashing and repairing radio controlled model airplanes. The airplanes I enjoy the most are replicas of World War II planes, some with wingspans over seven feet and some with retractable gear. Some have electric motors but most take fuel.

My philosophy is that the human body is smart; it knows how to care for itself... if given half a chance. My goal is to help my patients remove obstacles to health so that the body can use the healing powers that God gave it. Whether there is a physical injury, nutritional deficiency or interference from stress, I work with my patients in a “team” approach for their specific problem to get the efficient healing they deserve. I also believe that there is no one health care profession that has all the answers and I work with other disciplines to get the patient any care they need for their specific problem.

Chiropractic care is one key piece of the entire health puzzle. I receive regular treatments from my wife, Dr. Haar, DC, and we both concentrate on the physical, chemical and emotional aspects of the total health picture. With regular care and attention to health, we rarely get sick even though we are frequently around sick people. The regular adjustments help boost our immune systems and if we feel a sore throat coming on, we knock it out with adjustments and nutrition.

I hope you too can "discover" chiropractic like I did. Give us a call and find out what chiropractic can do for you. After all, if the "wiring" in your body doesn’t work, how well can the internal organs and muscles work that the "wires" are controlling? We have two doctors here to serve you so you are actually getting a two-fer doctor to help figure out what will work best for you. Call today, you deserve better health!

Can babies with colic be helped with chiropractic?
It's probably one of the times a parent feels the most helpless. But based on the research, chiropractic and colic relief appear to go hand in glove. With success rates in the mid-90% range, more and more Sherman parents are seeing a chiropractor. If you have a baby with colic learn how chiropractic may help.
Would you rather feel good or be healthy?
Ask most people in Sherman and they want to feel good. Careful! Would you take medicine that makes you feel good, rather than vomit to expel improperly prepared food? Every chiropractic patient knows that you can't measure your health by how you feel. True health is when your body works as it should.
